A fine pudding wine to end a tasty late-night bite.
A golden Golan sticky from Yarden, produced "in the style of icewine" from Gewurztraminer grapes that have been frozen.
I don't think the frosts on the Golan Heights are sufficient to do the freezing naturally — at least in the autumn harvest season — although I do recall some bitter early winter mornings at altitude in northern Israel when I was working on a moshav there way back when (in 1974/5 if my memory serves me at all)...
Whatever, a very pleasant dessert wine to be sure, and quite unusual here in Tokyo.
Update: I should mention, of course, that this was at inside bar/counter at Cicada, which I introduced in my Japan Times column last week.
