It's still way too early in the season for hanabi/fireworks. They're a pleasure usually reserved for stifling, sweaty mid-summer evenings when there's barely a breeze — not the cool, dry conditions of the pre-rainy-season. Nonetheless, there was no way we were going to miss it, least of all in this particular location.
Sitting on the beach, nursing a beer, nibbling on rice crackers (there are still no eda-mame in the market yet), deafening explosions overhead, reflections of the pyrotechnics in the water below, children squealing, everyone oohing, aahing and applauding. Pity about the choice of music of course — or that they had to have music at all — but at least this year we didn't get We Are The Champions.
