I dropped in for another late-night snack at the new Café Bleu — as introduced in my last week's side story on Maruyama-cho.
Very casual, very welcoming, very simple decor. Just the way I like it.
Good straightforward food, from the otoshi (coperto) of chicken pate and foccacia…
to the carpaccio…
and the pasta…
Plus a good selection of Japanese (and further afield) wine — just as you'd expect from a cellar put together by owner-manager Iwakura-san.
Such as this tasty Chardonnay from Hasumi Farm in Nagano Pref.
Even if you've never actually met Iwakura-san, there's a good chance you may have been to one of the many bars or restaurants she has helped put together (along with her partner, Higashi-san).
It's an impressive list, and includes Buchi (standing bar with casual Italian basement resto in Shinsen, Shibuya); Bongout Noh (wine bar/casual resto in upper Shibuya); Kinsai (casual Japanese in Naka-Meguro); and Kitchen Cero (Mediterranean food with Japanese wine, in Meguro).
Big kudos!
