The Shibuya/Harajuku axis has just spawned another top coffeeshop.
Not that there's any shortage of good java in this particular neck of the Tokyo woods — what with Bear Pond (On The Corner), the two Streamer outlets, the Vacant branch of Little Nap and, only a bit further away, Omotesando Koffee.
The Roastery is a worthy addition to that list.
Outside and in, it's every bit as hip and stylish as you'd expect from its location looking onto Cat Street, the fashion-centric pedestrian artery that links those two buzzy, youthful neighbourhoods.
Operated by the folks at Nozy (another of our best coffee joints, out in Mishuku), the counter at the front dispenses the espresssos and lattes. And at the back, as the name promises, is where the beans are roasted — and also where the French press coffees are produced.
The beans are good and the prices just as you'd expect...
There's more though: upstairs is the new Smokehouse, the latest addition to the T.Y.Harbor Brewery's expanding group. Stay tuned for more on that very shortly…
