Japan's all abuzz with its latest fastest shinkansen — the 300 kph Hayabusa up to Aomori. A lot of the PR campaign has centred around the gastro-tourism possibilities (pictures at the bottom). But best of all I like these ekiben, on sale in Tokyo Station — though I haven't actually sampled one yet (they're for the kids).
I also like this inflatable version, looking more like an angry alligator than a friendly super-fast train (also spotted at Tokyo Station)...
