It's been a wonderful — indeed, some would say epic — hanami season this year. The best blossom in years, coupled with blue skies and outstanding warm, sunny conditions. Today rain is forecast, which is likely to bring the petals down. But quickly, before they're all gone, one last image of sakura sweetness.
Yes, we made another foray to Sadaharu Aoki: the sakura eclair — decorated with salted preserved cherry blossom, plus glittery spray-on gold leaf — was filled with a cream of bitter almond. The matcha eclair had a filling of rich green matcha-intense cream. Both were memorable.
And while we were there, we picked up one of the salted caramel eclairs. That's one for any season!
