A new place, open to the street, basically bistro-French in style but with plenty of other influences happening. So I dropped in for a quick bite.
A Moroccan salad, with a colorful selection of veggies, a few bits of dried fruit in the mix, and a dressing well infused with cumin...
...followed by this rich stew of summer vegetables to be ladled over couscous...
...which came with a serving of what the menu described as "lamb meatloaf"...
... which turned out to be very tasty kofte-type balls of minced meat — with some good and spicy harissa in the demitasse to liven things up. Just the sort of good robust home cooking you need on a sultry summer night.
It's an easy-going casual place that's been put together on a limited budget and plenty of recycled materials. The chef is young and works virtually solo in his little open kitchen. Clearly he knows what he's doing and doesn't try to set his sights too high. The wine list is limited but affordable.
Not that it's really memorable. And that's why I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. Not to worry, I'm sure I'll be back that way before too long.
