Another of Tokyo's very best burgers... This one at the excellent Burger Mania, in Shirokane.
This is the Platinum Burger — which is not in fact a burger (albeit it comes inside a burger bun) but wagyu steak, fried on the teppan, cut into double-bite-sized slices and anointed with a delectable dark demi-glace sauce. Only a limited number of these are available each day.
Burger Mania just celebrated its 2nd anniversary — but the interior looks just as sharp and bright as when it opened.
Owner-chef Shunsuke Moriguchi says the reason why he opened a burger restaurant was that it's so much easier than launching a full-fledged restaurant — both in terms of equipment and training. His background includes working at the renowned Firehouse, over in Hongo. But he has developed some dynamite burger recipes of his own.
All the info (in Japanese) at Burger Mania's web site.
And here's some more info lifted from the very excellent (but not very active at the moment) blog, Hamburgers in Tokyo:
The marquee hamburger is the Platinum Burger. The unique thing about this hamburger is that it does not used the grounded patty, but with thin strips of prime Black Wagyu. On top of the beef is the special balsamic vinegar sauce. The beef is mouthwatering, and the sour sauce adds a new diminiton to the hamburger. This hamburger is named after the area Shirokane, which means platinum. Burger Mania only serves ten of these Platinum Burgers, so be sure to arrive early if you want to try this burger. Although it is a bit pricy (1,500 yen), it is a must-eat hamburger for, well, burger maniacs

And thanks to Craig Dale for this one... Cheers, Craig!
