Sake. As the old saying goes, it's 百薬の長 ("hyaku yaku no cho"), which literally translates as 'Boss of the 100 medicines'.
So when my annual springtime cold laid me low last week, I knew exactly where to turn...
Kimoto Junmai, from the excellent Daishichi brewery in Fukushima — one of my favorite brews — nicely warmed and glugged before bed. Slept like a baby, and my cold was over the next day (apart from the usual residual snuffles).
Just thought you'd like to know the old adage still holds true...
