Heidi Pizzeria is a one-man operation, a pizzeria in miniature. The oven — wood-fired of course — is so scaled down it can only produce pies about the size of your hand.
There are half a dozen styles to choose from, ranging from classic margarita and quattro formaggi to rather more exotic flavors.
The "Giapponese"comes with flakes of teriyaki chicken and fine-sliced renkon (lotus root). While the enigmatically named "Randy" 「ランデイ」(below) is scattered with ground chicken meat and lightly spiced up with SE Asian chili sauce.
The prices are good: ¥500 for each pizza, and just ¥100 for a glass of vino di tavola. So is the location, on a road that runs along the estuary of a small river, with the sea visible if you crane your neck. But the seating arrangements are basic: you sit al fresco at folding tables in a parkling lot.
I should perhaps explain: Heidi Pizzeria is a converted VW camper van.
Which brings new meaning to 'Pizza to go.'
